I am a multimedia artist currently involved in the exploration of sculptural forms. When I am in my studio I enter a dialogue with my materials, my vision, and the evolution of the piece itself. It has been exciting to see that my work as a jewelry artist is a continuation of my earlier work. I remain fascinated by the exploration of materials. The dynamic relationships between form and color, and between positive and negative space are the same.

The process is also the same. I start with one image or idea, but like the first brushstroke on a canvas, it is the start of an organic process, which could take me in any number of directions. The need to problem solve so that the piece is comfortable and functional is challenging and new for me. How to integrate form and function is a challenge that often results in "happy accidents."

Staying awake to possibilities as I work helps me to keep the piece dynamic and lively.. I find joy in bringing a piece to life. I know I am done with a piece when it stands up and walks out of my studio.
